Kira’s Engagement Photo Makeup

I did Kira’s makeup for her engagement session last night in Downtown Sacramento with photographer, Bre Thurston. These are just a few close-ups I took myself before the shoot but the professional photos will be here shortly! I’ve only seen two of them but Kira and her soon-to-be hubby Jordan looked so great together! I can’t wait to see the rest!

Isn’t she beautiful!?

Mimosas and Wedding Planning- Sunday doesn’t get much better than that!

I just attended the Love and Lust Blog Bridal Event on Sunday with two of my bride friends. We had Sunday brunch and mimosas and then walked around the bridal expo and even sampled a few of the yummy desserts!

Here are some of the photos of the table settings and floral arrangements that I really loved. There were so many fun and unique ideas!

The first two bouquets were done by the florist who did my wedding and I highly recommend her- she’s amazing! Check out more of her work at Design with Florae.

Photo Shoot with Bre!

Not much to say here, the photos speak for themselves– These girls are beautiful! And they are lucky to have been photographed by such a talented woman! Bre Thurston

Doing the makeup for photo shoots with Bre is always so much fun :)

So TANtalizing!

So it is almost summer… but if you live where I do, it hasn’t been feeling like summer at all lately. The sun hasn’t been consistent with the season for the last few weeks. This means that when summer FINALLY hits, I won’t be prepared. Meaning I will still have my pale, winter complexion for quite some time. So, in the meantime, I have a solution that does not include a tanning bed.

It’s called Tantalizer by LORAC Cosmetics. It is a lotion body bronzer that washes off in the shower. I use it all the time in the summer and it gives me the appearance of being freshly tanned even when I haven’t seen the sun in weeks. I have been using this stuff for a few years now and just yesterday I found the miniature version for travelling. Perfect to throw in your makeup bag for a trip to Vegas! I usually only use it at night because it does have a light sheen/shimmer to it which can be a little much for daytime (although not too much for Vegas of course) and it is perfect for use on your arms, legs, and décolleté.

Try it this summer and I’m sure you’ll love it! ;)

It is available anywhere that LORAC is sold- I buy mine at Sephora or Ulta.  The large bottle sells for $32 (but lasts a long time) and the mini will cost you $10.

Engagement Party Fun!

Although this has little to nothing to do with makeup, I thought I would post some photos from the engagement party I threw for some friends last weekend. I wanted to post the photos because when I was searching for ideas for the party, I had trouble finding what I was looking for.

So, I figured if a bride was looking at my site for makeup for her wedding, she might find these photos helpful for her own engagement parties or bridal showers. I really had so much fun putting this together- I just love doing anything creative or artistic especially if it has the word wedding in front of it, and this definitely fell into that category!

These were SO fun! I made cupcake toppers with my cricut (paper cutter) and some sticks from michaels. I love how they turned out!
I ordered cupcakes from Icing on the Cupcake and added my own cupcake toppers. The polka dots on the table is tissue paper and I sprinkled fake diamond rings all over.
This beverage table was dangerous in the wind! We had lemonade on one side and the most delicious mango peach sangria with fresh mint on the other (we only lost 2 or 3 glasses to the crazy wind!)
This was my favorite- Caprese Skewers in mini martini glasses. Just cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and fresh basil!
Appetizer table- the blue table runner in the middle is just wrapping paper!
I bought the bread from a local bakery and made turkey, roastbeef, and veggie sandwiches with labels so everyone knew what they were grabbing
We made yummy homemade sandwiches and salads
I made a banner out of cardstock and ribbon that read “Pat & Kelly”
The table decor was flowers and cucumber water!
We bought flowers from Trader Joes and Costco and put them in short, square vases for centerpieces

I made favors for all the guests filled with candy and a sign that read “love is sweet, so have a treat!”
I made a photo board with Pat and Kelly’s engagement photos (taken by Bre Thurston)

This concealer is “The Balm!”

The Balm Concealer– If you have permanent dark circles under your eyes like me, or trouble areas that foundation and powder don’t cover, I highly recommend this product! I live by this stuff. I always buy it in multiples because I keep one in my purse and one in my makeup bag at home. It covers everything without looking too heavy or cakey AND it’s good for your skin too! It even has anti-wrinkle ingredients so using it under your eyes should pay off in the long run!

You can find it at Sephora!

A Few Boudoir Photos

Here are just a few photos from the second boudoir shoot I did with photographer Bre Thurston at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento.

Her photos turned out beautifully, and her makeup isn’t bad either! ;)

Check back for photos of the other girls soon!
