This is a list of all the races I have done since I ran my first 5k in May of 2011. I was never a runner and I used to struggle with finishing a mile, so those first 3.1 miles were a huge accomplishment for me. Since then I have done one half marathon and am training for my second. I plan to continue running and joining these group races and have set a goal for myself to run at least 12 of them in 2012. I don’t have a goal on how many of them should be 5ks, 10ks, half or full marathons (someday!) because as of now I just want to focus on increasing the amount of times a year I participate in them. I really enjoy myself during these runs and since they usually benefit a good cause I feel like I am doing my part to help the community. Maybe after 12 of these shorter runs I’ll be ready for a full! I will update this page each time I finish another race and I will also add future runs I have planned.
Run to Feed the Hungry – November 22, 2012. This is one of my all-time favorite runs. It benefits a great cause and feels good to get a run in before a huge meal!
Sacramento Color Run – August 4, 2012 – I’m registered for this run with a bunch of friends in Sacramento on team “Rainbow Racers.” The last one I did in SoCal was so much fun, I can’t wait to do it again! Kaiser Permanente Women’s Fitness 5k – June 3, 2012 – I will be doing this 5k again in June! Looking forward to it :) Update- This was a great race and a bunch of other Kaia girls did it too! I plan on doing it every year if I can!
Shamrock’n Half Marathon – I have been blogging about this here, here, here, and here. Sadly, despite months of training, I may not be able to run this race on March 11th because of an injury. But keep your fingers crossed that I’ll feel okay by race day! It’s in 3 days but stranger things have happened, right? If I don’t feel better and have to take a DNS, there will always be others! ****Update- I was unable to run this race because of my injury. At the time I was supposed to be on crutches (but wasn’t because they are so inconvenient!) and was in too much pain to complete the race. I got all the way up to 12 miles in my training and was so disappointed to not be able to complete the actual half marathon. In the end I am glad I didn’t run it, sad, but I don’t regret skipping it. I know if I went through with it I could have injured myself permanently and it wasn’t worth it. Now I’m back running again, although much shorter distances, and I rarely have pain in my foot. I think I made the right decision.
